You have Virginia Grohl to thank for raising one of the most influential rockstars of the past twenty years.

She was a single mother working as a teacher, but the first time she ever needed a substitute was when Dave and the rest of Nirvana played Saturday Night Live in 1992. She went to New York to see them, and has seen loads of Nirvana and Foo Fighters shows since. Amongst the mayhem of the grunge world, only one thing caught her off guard – she hardly ever saw any other moms at the shows. So Virginia tracked them down and wrote a book about raising rockstars.

From Cradle to Stage comes out this month and features interviews with the mothers of Dr. Dre, Micheal Stipe, Amy Winehouse, Beastie Boys’ Mike D and more.
