Liberal Government Hopes to Legalize Marijuana by End of First Term

At a public policy meeting today, Federal MP and Former Toronto Police officer Bill Blair says the current approach to marijuana needs to be changed.  The government is currently looking to legalize – but Blair says they will take proper time to consult the public & he’s not sure if legislation will even pass before the next federal election.  However, according to Edmonton’s Dinner Television the government’s  aim is to legalize by the end of their first term.

“The government believes that the time has come to enact a system of strict regulations to replace the criminal sanctions,” Blair said said during a public policy forum today.  This includes strict regulation & restricted access to minors.  But also: Legalization.
