With scenic views, rolling hills, epic mountains, and more, Alberta has become a hot spot for entertainment production. These are movies and TV shows filmed in Alberta that you should have on your radar.

1. High School (season 1)

Scenes from Tegan and Sara’s upcoming TV show, High School, were partially filmed in their hometown of Calgary, including Crescent Heights High School. It premieres on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, October 14.

 

2. The Last Of Us

HBO’s dystopian drama was filmed all across Alberta – including multiple spots in Edmonton. The video game-inspired show was shot on Rice Howard Way, at the Alberta Legislature, and Jasper Ave. The production is estimated to have brought in over $200 million into the province and is being called the largest TV production in Alberta!

 

3. Fargo (season 5)

Season five of Fargo was partially filmed in Calgary, bringing giant stars like John Hamm, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Joe Keery, and more to Alberta. No release date has been announced.

 

4. Minecraft

There’s a rumor that Warner Bros. is working on a Minecraft movie – in Calgary! If that’s true, it’s sure to be a massive production. The project is being led by Peter Sollet, who you may know from Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist.
