If you do insist on going out, you can take us with you of course, and there is so much going on around Edmonton this Canada Day so we’ll do our best to keep it organized so you can pick how you’re going to celebrate!

 

FIREWORKS

There will be fireworks over the River Valley Parks and the North Saskatchewan River starting at 11 pm. If you can’t make it, there will be a livestream. We’ll share the link as soon as we get it.

Fireworks Viewing and Access

Good viewing locations:

  • Alberta Legislature Grounds
  • Victoria Park
  • Ezio Faraone Park (west entrance to High Level Bridge on 109 Street north)
  • Government House Park

Viewing areas accessible on foot only (closed to vehicles):

  • River Valley Road
  • Walterdale Hill Road and Promenade
  • Queen Elizabeth Park, Hill and Road
  • 109 Street (between Saskatchewan Drive and the High Level Bridge)

  • Strathcona County Fireworks kicking off at 11:00 PM at Broadmoor Lake Park
  • Fireworks at Jubilee Park starting at 11 PM

ETS Canada Day Service

(Taken from City of Edmonton)

On July 1, all ETS bus and LRT routes will operate on their regular Sunday schedules, with additional service for the fireworks celebration. Capital/Metro Line trains run on Saturday schedules. Capital Line trains will run every 12 minutes until approximately 1am on July 2. Regular transit fares apply.

Please allow plenty of time to get where you’re going on Canada Day. Plan ahead and expect travel delays both before and after the fireworks display. Visit edmonton.ca/transit for more details and to plan your trip.

Please note: From 10:45pm to 12:15am, LRT service may be delayed on the bridge between Government Centre and University Stations while the fireworks debris is being cleared.

 

Edmonton Valley Zoo

Time: 10am-4pm

Cost: Regular Admission

A great way to celebrate Canada Day with your family is at the Edmonton Valley Zoo! They’re featuring their Canadian animals with some special features to learn more about them, animal talks and more! They’ll also have live music, magic shows, we’ve heard there will be a scavenger hunt for the kids and so much more. It sounds like the perfect day.

 

Spray Parks

The sun is supposed to be out on Canada Day, cool off with the kids at one of the many spray parks across Edmonton.

Please note that the Kinsmen Park Common Spray Park will close at 7pm on July 1.

Canada Day at the Alberta Legislature

Time: Noon – 5pm

It’s been a couple years but the party is back at the Alberta Legislature!

Enjoy FREE entertainment and activities for all ages to enjoy at the Alberta Legislature Grounds.

If you choose to bring your pets to the grounds, please ensure they are leashed at all times. With the exception of service animals, pets are not allowed inside the Alberta Legislature Building or the Edmonton Federal Building.

 

Edmonton Garrison Canada Day Celebration

Muttart Conservatory

Time: noon-4pm

Celebrate Canada Day at the Muttart Conservatory! They will be demonstrating some upcycled crafts to go with the Junkyard Feature Pyramid. Participate in some planting activities and watch a circus performer. Don’t forget to check out their pre-registered, behind the scenes tours! You will be able to book online 1 week in advance.

 

2022 Leduc Canada Day Celebrations

Time: 8:30am – 11pm

Enjoy at day courtesy of the City of Leduc and their community partners feature FREE events throughout the day.

It’s a day of family-friendly activities kicking off with a delicious pancake breakfast, a Canada Day parade, a special flag raising ceremony and a BBQ. There will be FREE outdoor concert featuring Kira Isabella and Doc Walker and concluding with one of the biggest fireworks shows in Alberta!

  • Pancake breakfast is hosted by the Royal Canadian Legion (Leduc Branch 108) starting at 8:30am and running until 11:30am. You can find them in the northeast parking lot of the Leduc Recreation Centre
  • Toonie Swim – Only in Canada can we havea ‘Toonie Swim’ so this is as patriotic as we can get! It’s $2 for everyone ages three and up for the day starting 10 am until 8 pm at the Alexandra Outdoor Pool
  • Canada Day Parade starts at 11 am on Main Street

St Albert Canada Day

Time: Noon – 11pm

  • Fireworks presented by the Kinsmen Club of St. Albert | 11 p.m. from Meadowview Ball Diamonds, 1 Meadowview Dr.

Canada Day Celebrations and Fireworks Strathcona County

Time: 9am – 11pm

Highlights include:

  • Spectacular daytime entertainment by local performers
  • Story times and meet and greets with Blue’s Clues
  • Lap and rec swims at Kinsmen Leisure Centre
  • Golf specials at Broadmoor Public Golf Course
  • Back-to-basics fun with Mammoet Just Play activities

The day kicks off July 1 at 9 a.m. with the Re/Max Elite Pancake Breakfast supported by Canadian Progress Club

At 10 a.m., activities begin at Broadmoor Lake Park. The celebration wraps up with a fireworks display at 11 p.m.

Chinatown Canada Day Celebration

Time: 1-8pm
Where: Kinistinaw Park
(96 Street, from 102A Avenue to 103A Avenue)
Cost: Free!

The Chinese Benevolent Association of Edmonton is inviting everyone to celebrate Canada Day in the heart of Heritage Chinatown. This will be a day of cultural performances, games, craft sales, and food vendors. Everyone welcome!

Mill Woods Canada Day Celebration

Time: 2–11pm
Admission: Free!

In its 30th year, the Mill Woods Canada Day Celebration will celebrate our nation’s storied history and the diversity of the community with a free and inclusive event featuring multicultural performances, dance, music, fun and fireworks. Fireworks display at 11pm.

 

Edmonton Riverhawks

Time: 7:05pm

After a day celebrating at a spray park or in Chinatown, head down to RE/MAX Field for a night of baseball! The Edmonton Riverhawks host the Nanaimo Nightowls at 7:05pm at RE/MAX Field. It’s the perfect family-friendly atmosphere entertainment, and make sure you stick around afterwards too for some special Canada Day fireworks in the ballpark! Tickets are on sale now HERE.
