The Fruit Loop Society of Alberta is excited to bring you not one, but two incredible weekends of Pride programming in June.

The Fruit Loop Society of Alberta is an Edmonton-based, volunteer-led non-profit social enterprise. They provide inclusive events, dynamic social media, and special initiatives for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Alberta.

After two years without large-scale, in-person Pride events, our Society remains committed to presenting a diversity of programming, and working with our community to celebrate and protest,” says Society President Sean Thompson. “While we believe Pride should draw awareness every day of the year, we hope to use our time in June to bring us all together, reuniting and recharging.”

The Prairie Fairy Story

In October 2018, Fruit Loop and Sea Change Brewing Co. proudly introduced the craft beer world to Prairie Fairy! A blackberry and raspberry wheat ale with a striking pink hue, Prairie Fairy is a bold and refreshing beer that will surely turn heads and awaken taste buds. In recognition of the Fruit Loop’s ongoing support of LGBTQ2S+ initiatives in the city, Sea Change Brewing Co. is proud to donate a portion of the proceeds from every keg sold to Fruit Loop so that together we can keep awareness and community engagement at the forefront.

The Prairie Fairy concept recognizes and embraces the long and distinct history of LGBTQ2S+ peoples on the Canadian prairies. In taking on this name, we celebrate the hardworking LGBTQ2S+ farmers, the revered healers in the two-spirit community, the glamorous drag queens in small-town bars, and the pioneers past and present who helped shape the community as we know it today.

Funds raised through this partnership will directly support Fruit Loop, generating much-needed dollars for local community LGBTQ2S+ organizations. Since its inception 2013, Fruit Loop has supported many deserving groups, including HIV Edmonton, the Edmonton Two-Spirit Society, the Canadian Native Friendship Centre (Edmonton), the Edmonton and Jasper Pride Festivals, the Pride Centre of Edmonton , the Edmonton Men’s Health Collective, the Institute for Sexual Minority Studies & Services at the University of Alberta, and the Imperial Sovereign Court of the Wild Rose. This partnership between Fruit Loop and Sea Change Brewing Co. will allow for ongoing, year-round support of queer organizations in the Edmonton region.

In a commitment to accessibility, ASL interpretation of the live music portions will be provided.

10:00 p.m. Late-Night Dance Party partnered with local event producer Sapphic Speakeasy.
