This time last year we were enjoying a SONiC book reading session of Tegan and Sara’s memoir Highschool. The book was written in alternating chapters to capture both Tegan and Sara’s points of view of their lives growing up.

Now, the twins have announced that High School is being turned into a coming-of-age comedy series for IMDb TV. Deadline has reported that the series will be created by filmmaker Clea DuVall, Plan B Entertainment and Amazon Studios.

Through a backdrop of ’90s grunge and rave culture, the series tangles itself in the parallel and discordant memories of two sisters growing up down the hall from one another. This is a story about finding your own identity — a journey made even more complicated when you have a twin whose own struggle and self-discovery so closely mimics your own.”

Although Tegan and Sara will be the executive producers, they will not be acting in the series. The show will cast someone else to play Tegan and Sara.

A release date has yet to be announced.
