The new 'Paper Mario' game references PUP

Paper Mario: The Origami King was released this month and PUP, noticed some familiar phrases. The game references their latest album Morbid Stuff released in April of 2019.

Their drummer Zachary Mykula posted some screenshots on Twitter.

The references take place in the dark desert scene with Toad, and call out to PUP’s songs “Free at Last”, “Closure” and “Morbid Stuff”.

The band has used Super Mario Bros references in the past. Their music video for “DVP” released in 2016, included footage of some old video games.
