The 2020 Polaris Music Prize Long List came out today and there are a couple nominees from right here in Edmonton! In case you need a refresher on what it’s all about, their website says the following:

“The Polaris Music Prize is a not-for-profit organization that annually honours and rewards artists who produce Canadian music albums of distinction. A select panel of music critics judge and award the Prize without regard to musical genre or commercial popularity.”

The Long List is 40 albums, which will be narrowed down to a 10 album Short List. This year two albums by Edmonton artists were nominated: Wares, Survival and nêhiyawak, nipiy.

The Short List will be revealed on July 15 during a CBC Music radio special.
