Green Day – Father of All Motherfuckers

Release Date: February 7

It’s been a while since Green Day put out a total banger of an album, but it’s looking like 2020 will be their year. Following a two year hiatus, the band returned with their blistering title track “Father of All…” followed by “Oh Yeah”, featuring a sample of Joan Jett’s “Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah)”. The songs definitely shows off the band’s new style, but that they’re still full of their classic punk rock grit. Later this year, the band will embark on the Hella Mega Tour with Weezer and Fall Out Boy.

Nine Inch Nails – TBD

EPA/GIAN EHRENZELLER

Release Date: TBD

The same year they’re being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Nine Inch Nails will be releasing a “collaborative” album. Trent Reznor told Rolling Stone, “We thought, kind of playing on the newfound spirit of collaboration that scoring [films] has forced us into, seeing what happens when we mix our DNA with some other people, with a no pressure environment. Let’s see what happens. If something good happens, then maybe the world can hear it. But if it doesn’t, we put it in the pile with the others.”

So there might be a new Nine Inch Nails album, unless it sucks, then they’ll keep it to themselves.

Release Date: TBD

Following the departure of Josh Klinghoffer and the return of John Frusciante, the Chili Peppers are hard at work on a brand new album. Klinghoffer, who played guitar for the rock band for a decade, reflected on his firing on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast.

“It’s absolutely John’s place to be in that band. So that’s why I’m happy for him, I’m happy that he’s back with them.”

Klinghoffer said that he and the band had been working on a new album before his departure, but he now suspects those songs have been scrapped in favour of the ones written with Frusciante.
