Forget the battle of Alberta…. It’s the CHARITY battle of Alberta!

In response to a Calgarian’s gofundme raising money to put a billboard of Tkachuk in Edmonton, an Edmonton woman has asked OILERS fans to donate too!  Sam, behind the twitter accound @SaminYEG, asked Oilers fans to donate to a Calgary Charity so “Kids can get a proper meal & Grow up to be tougher than Tkachuk”.

The tweet quickly went viral, with many others chiming in to donate.  Sam posted the tweet earlier today, and according to the charity she asked people to donate to (Brown Bagging it) over $1200 has be donated already!  Sam says she expects that number to continue to rise as more media outlets cover the story & the tweet continues to be retweeted.

We chatted with Sam about how she got this hilarious (and helpful!) idea, and asked her what she’d say to Zach Kassian if he was listening…
