Hitchin' a ride? Billie Joe Armstrong's old surf van is for sale

A van once owned by Green Day’s frontman is on the market for a cool $40k.

The current owner, Graham van de Laar, purchased the van by accident on the auction website Trade Me.

According to van de Laar, he accidentally clicked the “place bid” button and was forced to pay up when a higher bidder never materialized. The van was then shipped from California to New Zealand.

“It was Billie Joe’s personal surf van he used in California.”

The blue 1961 Chevrolet Greenbrier boasts a custom GRNDAY license plate, Billie Joe’s signature on the glove box and a State of California Certificate of Title to prove the van really was once owned by the punk rocker.

In the market? van de Laar has it currently listed on the Trade Me site at the buy-it-now price of $39,995 ($33,988.71 CND), or at auction starting from $37,995 ($32285.02 CND).
