Researchers at the University of St. Andrews have taught one very special seal, Zola, how to sing one cinematography’s most iconic songs – the Star Wars theme.

While earning her Ph. D at the university, Amanda Stansbury worked with three baby grey seals –  Zola, Janice and Gandalf – to see if they could repeat sounds. The three seals have been taught new sounds, including some human vowels, that they have been able to imitate. Zola can sing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” and the Star Wars theme.

Following a year of research, the seal pups were released back into the wild, not without catching the eye of Mark Hamill himself.
