A great story has gone viral of an Edmonton Police Officer who changed a man’s tire in freezing cold -20 weather yesterday!

The picture was captured by reddit user minimum_thrust who spotted the YEG officer “changing someone’s tire in -20c. Let’s give some love to our boys in blue!!!”  The post gained TONS of traction online and after a bit of hunting, I managed to track down the officer in the photo!  His name is Constable Justin Cook, and he’s pretty hilarious.

I got to chat with him how this all went down and what it’s like to be a new internet celebrity:

And in a fun twist, Brendan Kerbrat, the man who’s tire was changed, called in to chat TOO!  I talked with him about what it meant to him to have the officer change his tire.  AND, he said what he wants to do for Constable Cook as a repayment for the awesome favour:

Shoutout to both Brendan and Constable Cook, they both spoke extremely highly of each other and commended each other’s ability to stay calm and remain positive in a difficult situation.  And kudos to reddit & user minimum_thrust for recognising & bringing attention to the small deeds Edmonton Police officers do every day that make such a big difference in our lives  It’s an all around awesome Canadian story.
