Each year a talented and diverse group of Canadian musicians strive for the coveted Polaris Music Prize.

This years’ short list of nominees included Alvvays, Weaves, Jean-Micheal Blais, Daniel Caesar, Jeremy Dutcher, Pierre Kwenders, Hubert Lenoir, Partner, Snotty Nose Rez Kids and U.S. Girls. And the winner is…. Jeremy Dutcher! He hails from New Brunswick and is a Wolastoqiyik member of the Tobique First Nation.

The Polaris Music Prize is handed out each year to a Canadian artist with the best full-length Canadian album based on artistic merit, regardless of genre, sales, or record label. Past winners include Arcade Fire, Feist, Tanya Tagaq and more. The winner receives a $50, 000 prize to further their creative projects. Congrats to all for their hard work and recognition!
