Miike Snow has finally broken their eight-year silence with the release of their new single, “I Was a Sailor.” This track marks a much-anticipated return for the Swedish band, known for their unique blend of creative arrangements and memorable melodies.

“I Was a Sailor” captivates listeners with its natural drum groove and hazy piano part. The song expertly balances tension-building verses with a catchy chorus, and a beautifully crafted flute solo adds an extra layer of colour and sophistication.

Fans got their first taste of “I Was a Sailor” during Miike Snow’s performance at the Just Like Heaven festival in 2019. After a few days of teasing on social media, the band has now officially released the recorded version, just in time for their upcoming performance at BottleRock Napa Valley this weekend. You can stream the single below and immerse yourself in their latest creation.

This release follows Miike Snow’s 2016 album, iii. While the band has been relatively quiet in terms of new music, member Andrew Wyatt has kept busy. Last year, Wyatt collaborated with Mark Ronson on songs for Greta Gerwig’s blockbuster Barbie. His musical prowess was further showcased in March when he performed “I’m Just Ken” alongside Ronson, Ryan Gosling, Slash, and Wolfgang Van Halen at the 2024 Academy Awards.
