Happy Family Day long weekend! Celebrate the extra day off with these bands who work together to create some of your favourite music.

1. Kings of Leon

Kings of Leon was formed in 1999. The band is composed of brothers Caleb, Nathan, and Jared Followill, and their cousin Matthew Followill. They are named after their grandfather, who was named Leon.

 

2. Oasis

Originally known as Rain, Oasis was formed in 1991 by Liam Gallagher. His brother Noel joined the band shortly afterward.

 

3. My Chemical Romance

MCR consists of Gerard Way, his brother Mikey Way, and their bandmates Ray Toro and Frank Iero.

 

4. Tegan and Sara

Identical twin sisters Tegan Rain Quin and Sara Keirsten Quin formed their band in their hometown of Calgary in 1998.

 

5. Radiohead

Since forming in 1985, Radiohead’s lineup has included brothers Jonny and Colin Greenwood.

 

6. Stone Temple Pilots

STP’s lineup remained unchanged from their formation in 1989 until the firing of Scott Weiland in 2013. Brothers Dean and Robert DeLeo still remain in the band.

 

7. Breeders

Breeders formed in 1989 with Kim Deal and her twin sister Kelley alongside Josephine Wiggs and Jim Macpherson.

 

8. The Sheepdogs

The Sheepdogs formed in 2004 in Saskatoon. Their lineup includes brothers Shamus and Ewan Currie alongside Ryan Gullen, Sam Corbett, and Ricky Paquette.

 

9. Cage the Elephant

Brothers Matt and Brad Shultz formed their band alongside Nick Bockrath, Matthan Minster, Daniel Tichenor, and Jared Champion in 2006.

 

10. The Beaches

The Beaches named their band after the neighborhood in Toronto that three of them grew up in. The band consists of sisters Jordan and Kylie Miller alongside Leandra Earl and Eliza Enman-McDaniel.
