Are you hoping to take your Halloween to the next level? Are you open to some paranormal activity? These six Edmonton spots are some of the most haunted in the city. Visit them… if you dare.

Of course Hotel Mac is haunted, it’s been around for over 100 years and has had countless people wander through its halls. Workers and guests have reportedly heard the sound of a horse-drawn carriage clip-clopping through the hallways – but only on the top floor.

2. The Princess Theatre

Bill Wren

The Princess Theatre has been a long-standing hallmark on Whyte Ave for decades, but did you know that before it was a movie theatre, it acted as an apartment building? As the story goes, a woman rented a room, only to be scorned by her fiance days later. Due to her grief, she committed suicide and was found in her wedding dress. Since then, patrons have reported seeing a female ghost in a white dress lingering on the grand staircase, wandering the halls, and hovering above the projection room.

3. Charles Camsell Hospital

Darren Kirby

The hospital opened in 1913 as a Jesuit College for boys. It was later converted into a military hospital for tuberculosis in 1945, with many patients never returning home. The hospital closed in 1996 and has since sat empty, with reports of lights flickering and elevators moving – even though the building doesn’t have electricity. The building is now guarded by security to keep ghost hunters out.

4. McKay Avenue School

Jeffery J. Nichols

In 1905, the building opened as a school and acted as the home of Alberta’s first two legislative sessions. It now sits as a museum and is known to be filled with ghosts from its past. Objects often get moved around and lights will turn on and off on their own. It is rumored that an employee once used an Ouija board to communicate with the spirit of a past employee who fell off the roof during construction and died.

5. Fort Edmonton Park’s Firkins House

Fort Edmonton Park has a long history of spooky encounters, but the Firkins House is one of its most popular. As the story goes, the ghost of a young man haunts the home. Discover it yourself with Fort Edmonton Park’s Paranormal Tours, beginning Wednesday, November 9.
