***SPOILERS INSIDE***

The fifth season of Cobra Kai is dropping on Netflix September 9th, a few months ahead of schedule, and will follow its previous seasons by introducing a familiar face from The Karate Kid movies.

We’ve seen the return of Ali with an ‘I’, Former Cobra Kai sensei John Kreese, Chozen Toguchi (Karate Kid II), and most recently Terry Silver (Karake Kid III) in season 4. Teaser photos for the upcoming season 5 show another returning face from the original franchise hoping to stack the deck against Johnny Lawrence (Eagle Fang) and Daniel LaRusso (Miyagi-do).

Warning there are spoilers ahead if you haven’t watched the end of season 4 …

OK, you’ve been warned … let’s begin.

Cobra Kai has been in the possession of more people than a dutchie being passed ‘pon the left-hand side at a Grateful Dead concert, but here we go. At the end of season 4, Terry Silver took over control of Cobra Kai (from John Kreese who took it over from Johnny Lawrence) after they won the girls All-Valley Under 18 tournament thanks to Tory defeating Sam, which we found out at the end was because Terry Silver cheated and paid off the referee to score in Tory’s favour. Silver, then had John Kreese framed for murder and taken away in cuffs leaving him the sole proprietor of Cobra Kai. Cobra Kai’s win meant Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang are no longer dojos, and Johnny and Daniel can’t be senseis.

Season 4 concluded with two reunions and Miguel going off to find his father (who will he be?)

Daniel & Johnny are getting some back up from Chozen and his crew. (We never did see Daniel do anything with those paralyzing pressure point moves he learned back in Okinawa), and Terry SIlver on the phone calling an old friend who we’ve found out is the lunatic Mike Barnes from Karate Kid III.

So we’re left with all kinds of questions … like who will train the Eagle Fang/Miyagi-Do kids? Will it be Chozen’s dojo now? Will John Kreese find his way out of jail and into Daniel & Johnny’s forgiving arms? How about how Mike Barnes will fit into the equation…

When we last saw Mike Barnes, he was going off on Daniel LaRusso in the All-Valley Under 18 Tournament in The Karate Kid III costing him the trophy and had Cobra Kai banned from the tournament (until Johnny got them reinstated in Cobra Kai season 1), so it looks like Terry Silver is willing to let bygones be bygones to eliminate Daniel & Johnny?

Here are a few more pictures released by Netflix for the new season of Cobra Kai, and notice the new Cobra Kai dojo!

There are a lot of questions heading into season 5 … will Johnny eliminate Terry Silverwith a Crane Kick?  This all should make for some good binge watching in a few weeks.
