This blog post contains spoilers for season four of Stranger Things. 

Joseph Quinn won over fans with his Stranger Things season four character Eddie. In the season finale, Eddie performs Metallica’s iconic track, “Master of Puppets”. While Metallica bassists’ Roberto Trujillo’s son Tye recorded the part, Quinn actually learned the song in order to have a believable performance.

Quinn told Collider that he’s “played guitar since [he] was very young, so [he] was lucky that [he] had a foundation there.” He explained that “when I read the scripts, the next morning I went out and bought a guitar and manically started learning ‘Master of Puppets.’”

He continued saying “It was very fun. I played most of it. We got a kind of black belt metal guitarist to come in and do the solo because I’m a human being. It’s very fast, but the rest of it, I tried my best to understand that. It was very fun.”

Now a video has been released of Quinn playing the song (minus the hair and Hellfire Club shirt).
