Hey, it’s Chantal. Sometimes it’s hard to keep track or be in the know about all the cool things going on in the city or online! Social media can get flooded, life can get chaotic, you know how it is. That’s what this is here for! Alternative Weekends is a nifty little series with the top 3 things happening in Edmonton or on SONiC, over the weekend. Who’s releasing a new album? Is there a SONiC artist live streaming? What can you do in Edmonton this weekend? Those questions will be answered here.

Here are 3 things to check out this weekend:

1. Experience The Edmonton Cat Festival online

This year the Edmonton Cat Festival is going virtual, however they still have a their vendor marketplace, online activities, and workshops to check out. You’ll be able to enjoy Cat Trivia, Virtual Cat Yoga, Cat Video Games, Catios 101, How to Train Your Cat to be an Adventure Cat and a ton more!

The festival will run Saturday-Sunday, May 29-30th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Plus, ticket holders will also be able to “binge their own Cat Fest” with recordings available for up to three weeks following the live virtual weekend.

3. Watch Disney’s Cruella, with Florence + The Machine on the soundtrack

This Friday, Cruella is being released on Disney+ with Emma Stone starring as the titular character, Cruella de Vil.

For the film, Florence + The Machine have released a new track called “Call Me Cruella”.

About the song, Florence Welch said “Some of the first songs I ever learned how to sing were Disney songs. And the villains often got the best numbers. So to help create and perform a song for Cruella is the fulfilment of a long held childhood dream.”
