Nearly a year after it was supposed to be out, Weezer‘s fifteenth studio album Van Weezer will finally be released on May 7.

Frontman Rivers Cuomo began working on the album in 2019. Inspired by guitar riffs from bands like Van Halen, he describes it as “Blue Album-ish, but a little more riffy.”

The album will feature 10 new songs, including the previously-released songs “End of the Game” and “Hero”.

Following Van Halen guitarist Eddie Van Halen’s passing in October 2020, Weezer announced that the album would be dedicated to his life.

Van Weezer‘s initial release date was meant to coincide with the Hella Mega Tour, featuring Green Day and Fall Out Boy. That tour has been postponed to summer 2021.
