Alternative Weekends with Chantal

Hey, it’s Chantal. Sometimes it’s hard to keep track or be in the know about all the cool things going on in the city or online! Social media can get flooded, life can get chaotic, you know how it is. That’s what this is here for! Alternative Weekends is a nifty little series with the top 3 things happening in Edmonton or on SONiC, over the weekend. Who’s releasing a new album? Is there a SONiC artist live streaming? What can you do in Edmonton this weekend? Those questions will be answered here.

Here are 3 things to check out this weekend:

1. Go to the Indoor Vintage Gardening Show

For three days this weekend, you can find everything you need for your plants at the Indoor Gardening Show! What a perfect way to spend the first day of spring, by checking out vintage pots, planters, enamelware, plant stands, ladders, and more!

The show runs from March 19-21st at the Old Strathcona Antique Mall.

2. Watch your Edmonton Oilers play the Winnipeg Jets

This Saturday, March 20th you can watch the Edmonton Oilers face off against the Jets at Rogers Place for the second time this week. Puck drop is at 8 p.m., and you can watch it on Sportsnet.

For the full Oilers schedule click here.

3. Claim your “City of One Million for the Civilian Pavilion” t-shirt

March 21st is your last chance to get your “City of One Million for the Civilian Pavilion” t-shirt, printed locally by Print Machine.

The Lauren Hunter Show wants to name a building in a new downtown park the Nathan Fillion Civilian Pavilion in honour of local celebrity, Nathan Fillion! To help spread the word and celebrate the year Edmonton hits one million citizens, you can now buy your own “City of One Million for the Civilian Pavilion” t-shirt!

Proceeds go to the Edmonton Food Bank.
