His real name is Kenneth La’ron, from Cleveland, Ohio. Believe it or not, the name “KennyHoopla” was inspired by a scene from the show SpongeBob SquarePants, where SpongeBob says “Hoopla!” and it stuck with him. Although he’s only 23 now, he’s been making music on SoundCloud since 2016. He doesn’t have access to proper recording equipment in his current home of Oshkosh, Wisconsin (population 67,000), so he says his creative output is a “product of limitation”.

Kenny told NME that “there’s an aura about indie rock music and a sound and energy that I can’t explain, but I feel like I have it in me.”

Since his breakout single “how will i rest in peace if i’m buried by a highway?//” came out, he has since collaborated with SONiC artists grandson and Blink-182’s Travis Barker.
