It’s official – Foo Fighters have returned! On Saturday, the band unleashed their new song “Shame Shame” off their tenth studio album, Medicine at Midnight.

The band debuted the new song on Saturday Night Live this week. You can watch the full performance below!

The new track arrives after a week of mysterious teasing from the band. Last week, posters of the band’s logo accompanied by an “X” – the Roman Numeral for 10 – were spotted in LA.

Prior to the pandemic, the band performed their new album in full for a room of journalists. Quarantine obviously put the album on hold, but by the looks of it, its release may be imminent.

Earlier this year, Dave Grohl commented on how ghosts interrupted the recording process. The band began recording the album in a 1940’s mansion in Encino, California, formerly owned by actress Ann Sheridan, but immediately realized the “vibe was off”. Guitars fell out of tune and recordings disappeared.

One of the album’s songs is one that Grohl has been working on for 25 years. “The first time I demoed it was in my basement in Seattle,”, he revealed. He later compared the album to David Bowie’s 1983 Let’s Dance, saying, “It’s filled with these anthemic, huge, sing-along rock songs. It’s almost like a dance record in a weird way. Not an EDM, disco, modern dance record – it’s got groove. To me, it’s like our David Bowie’s Let’s Dance record. That’s what we wanted to make, because we were, like, ‘Let’s make this really up, fun record.”

Medicine at Midnight boasts nine songs and will be released February 5, 2021.
