With the pandemic, a lot of businesses have been suffering and even shutting down. So this weekend a ton of musicians are teaming up to try and save independent music venues so that they have a place to play live music when all of this is over. To raise money for this cause the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) is partnering with YouTube to livetream a music festival all weekend long! It’s called Save Our Stages, and it runs from Friday, October 16th until Sunday, October 18th.

The lineup includes some of your favourite SONiC artists like The Lumineers, Rise Against, Foo Fighters, Nathaniel Raitflif, and Portugal. The Man and more. There are 35 artists to be recorded live from 25 independent concert venues throughout the U.S.

It is free to watch the livestream however, if you do donate the proceeds go to the NIVA Emergency Relief Fund, to support vulnerable independent music venues.

Dave Grohl also said in a statement:

“The smaller music venues and the ones that are really struggling are not only culturally important, they are emotionally important”.

Unlike some of the other livestreamed festivals we’ve seen, the footage from Save Our Stages will not be from archived performances. The artists will be performing live from various venues.
