Hey, it’s Chantal. Sometimes it’s hard to keep track or be in the know about all the cool things going on in the city or online! Social media can get flooded, life can get chaotic, you know how it is. That’s what this is here for! Alternative Weekends is a nifty little series with the top 3 things happening in Edmonton or on SONiC, over the weekend. Who’s releasing a new album? Is there a SONiC artist live streaming? What can you do in Edmonton this weekend? Those questions will be answered here.

This weekend is special because it’s the Labour Day long weekend, which back in the day meant SONiC BOOM weekend. So to remember what live music festivals were like, we’re getting nostalgic and doing a SONiC BOOM Rewind!

Here are 3 things to watch out for:

1. YOUR memories on our website

We’re going to feature your pictures, videos and stories all weekend on our website, every day until Monday. So keep an eye out because you might just spot yourself, or someone you know!

2. Highlight videos

For every SONiC BOOM from 2009 to 2016, we have put together a video that wraps it all up. These videos will feature a bunch of the best highlights from every year. You’ll see footage from our listeners and from a bunch of different BOOM artists. We’ll be posting 2 years worth of memories, so 2 videos every single day, up until Monday!

3. Memories and interviews on your radio

We’re playing music from SONiC BOOM artists all weekend, to sing along with our favourite bands and  reminisce about the ‘good old days’ of live music together. You’ll hear not only music but interviews from the artists who performed over the years too. We have interviews from twenty one pilots, Rise Against, Arctic Monkeys and more! You can also listen to your stories and other SONiC listeners’ favourite stories on the radio!
