This Saturday (August 29th) Arkells will debut their new album Campfire Chords on Citytv’s Budweiser Stage At Home. The album was just released on August 20th and includes 17 of their songs stripped back, plus their brand new single “Quitting You”. The first time Arkells got together since the beginning of the pandemic was to film these songs around a campfire. The songs then had to pass a “campfire test”. We talked with Max Kerman from Arkells and he explained what that means.

The performance will be airing at 8pm EST (6pm Edmonton time) on Citytv.

“We’ve never had time to make an ‘acoustic record’ because we were too busy playing shows and focusing on new music,” says Max Kerman according to Universal Music Canada. “But we also knew that they felt really good to play in a stripped back way. All of our big rock’n’roll songs start with an acoustic or piano, so heading back to that place isn’t too much of a stretch. We wanted a healthy mix of our bigger songs and deep cuts. Songs that would be fun to listen to around the campfire, or in your back yard, or at a park. In 2020 we’ve mostly been playing for each other, but Campfire Chords is an opportunity to stay connected with our fans until we can see them in real-life again soon.”
