Wesley Shultz from The Lumineers has teamed up with Cold War Kids, and released a brand new song called “1 x 1”.

This song not only had collaboration from The Lumineers’ vocalist, but it was also co-written by Brent Kutzle from One Republic. The lead singer from Cold War Kids had this to say about the original meaning of the song and what it has come to be:

“This song was inspired by the stories of child migrants separated from their families at the border. Now that we are all quarantined, it has taken on an extra meaning…One by one each of us are staying apart to help the whole of us.”

The song has a really cool balance of acoustic guitar, piano, and strings. Check it out below!

In November 2019 Cold War Kids released their album “New Age Norms 1”, which is supposed to be followed by two more records, in the 3 album series of “New Age Norms”. No word yet if this new song is a single off the next album or just a stand-alone song.
