A scripted mini-series telling the story of the creation and rise of Spotify is headed to Netflix.

The yet-untitled project will be based on the book Spotify Untold by Swedish journalists Sven Carlsson and Jonas Leijonhufvud. No director or actors have been announced, but Berna Levin and Per-Olav Sorensen will produce the series.

In a statement, Levin stated, “It’s the story of how a small band of Swedish tech industry insiders transformed music — how we listen to it and how it’s made — is truly a tale for our time. Not only is this a story about the way all our lives have changed in the last decade, it’s about the battle for cultural and financial influence in a globalized, digitized world.”

Spotify did not work with Carlsson and Leijonhufvud on the book. It is unclear if they will be involved in the series.

Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon founded Spotfiy in 2006 in Sweden before it became popular in the United Kingdom and then exploded globally.
