Coldplay has come a long way from their X&Y days. Over the past decade, the band’s alternative rock sound has evolved and become undeniably more pop. Now, the band is rumoured to be releasing an “experimental” album next month, but what the hell could that mean?

Coldplay hasn’t released anything since 2015’s A Head Full of Dreams. That all changes next month when the band drops their “more arty” album before releasing a “more mainstream” effort in early 2020.

A source told The Daily Star that “the first album is the more experimental side of Coldplay, they probably won’t tour until 2020 when the next one arrives.”

The band has yet to confirm the news, but they did update their social media pages to include an image of a gold moon and sun against a black backdrop.
