SONiC 102.9 is celebrating International Women’s Day with some of your favourite female artists! Be listening as Molly and Jasmin of Mother Mother, Aimee Interrupter of the Interrupters and more take over the station in their very own Pop Up Playlists. Plus, listen all day to win tickets to see Metric with July Talk on April 21 at the Edmonton Convention Centre!

Aimee Allen, better known as Aimee Interrupter, has been a fearless frontwoman for the Interrupters since 2011. But her musical career began long before that – in 2002 she was discovered by American Idol‘s Randy Jackson. Since then, she has gone on to work with Tim Armstrong of Rancid, members of Sublime, the Black Eyed Peas and more.

In honour of International Women’s Day, Lauren Hunter chatted with Aimee about the day, their tour rider and the woman who inspired the band’s name.
