An incredible story has surfaced of how Wetaskiwin’s mayor, Tyler Gandam, saved a pig from a burning building!

 

The rescue happened near the end of December, when Angela Pauls’ home near Millet, AB, caught fire.

 

Gandam is a volunteer firefighter, and was covering for another small town’s fire rescue unit that day, so he attended the call.  The pig is a house pig named Mr. Pua, and Gandam said he found the frightened piggy hiding in the bathroom when he went into the burning residence.

 

The pictures show just how dangerous this rescue must have been for Wetaskiwin’s mayor, & the other firefighters attending the call.

 

I talked with Tyler to learn more about the rescue, and what it’s like being a mayor, firefighter, & funeral director combo (the following is from 2 separate chats we had on air):
