Oh, Super Bowl. If you haven’t ditch your New Years resolution to eat more greens by now, you will today. Crazy spreads of foods soaked in butter line coffee tables across the globe as people get ready to take in the biggest sporting event of the year. But for those of us who don’t understand the hype – we’re here for two things; the half time show and the commercials that come along with it.

Lady Gaga is this year’s Super Bowl half time performer, and say what you will about her, she’s got SERIOUS pipes. Check out her cover of Led Zeppelin on Howard Stern:

Five years of half time shows have come and gone quickly, but how do they add up? Here are the past five years in review, starting with 2012.

1. February 5, 2012 – Madonna, Cee Lo Green, MIA,  LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, Cirque du Soleil and more:

You may remember this year because of MIA’s lack of censorship. Not only did she swear on live television, she also flipped off millions of viewers – a move that got her fined $16.6 million from the NHL.

2.  February 3, 2013 – Beyonce and Destiny’s Child

Again, if Beyonce’s not you thing that’s okay, but its hard to deny her talent. It was the second most-watched Super Bowl half time show with 110.8 million viewers. Plus, Independent Women is a total banger.

3. February 2, 2014 – Red Hot Chili Peppers and Bruno Mars

Bruno Mars acted as the main headliner, but asked the Chilis to perform “Give It Away” with him. Their performance cause some controversy after viewers notice that neither Flea or Josh Klinghoffer’s instruments were plugged in. Chili Peppers later released a statement saying that they played along to a pre-recorded track they put together earlier that week.

4. February 1, 2015 – Katy Perry, Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliot

Perry’s performance was the most-watched half time show ever, with 118.5 million viewers. It also won two Emmy’s later that year.

5. February 7, 2016 – Coldplay, Bruno Mars and Beyonce

Mars and Beyonce returned to join Coldplay on stage for the most recent half time show.

But now the question is, who should perform next year?
