Earlier this week it was announced that Pearl Jam will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 7. It’s their first year of eligibility, and to make it even better, Neil Young will be introducing the band.

Pearl Jam and Young have a long history together. The band calls Young “Uncle Neil” and credits him as their inspiration for staying together during their tumultuous rise to fame. Their song “Off He Goes” was inspired by working with Young on his 1995 Mirror Ball album. Pearl Jam has covered “Rockin’ in the Free World” over 100 times. In short, they like each other.

One of the first times PJ performed “Rockin’ in the Free World” was with Neil Young himself at the 1993 VMA awards (how times have changed) and they went totally nuts. Check it out below.
