The devastating wildfires in Fort McMurray has resulted in the biggest evacuation in Alberta history. Thousands are fleeing their homes. Some may never be able to return as there are reports of neighborhoods being destroyed. The Expo Centre at Northlands is opening up to evacuees.

  • Microtel Inn & Suits by Wyndham are offering free rooms in Whitecourt and Bonnyville for up to 7 days, while rooms last.

  • You can volunteer to help with Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo Emergency Social Services: betterimpact.com/Application
  • Also, The Pint locations in Edmonton say they will offer free meals to between 11am-2pm and 6-8pm. If you have a Fort McMurray address on your licence they will take care of your bill for you.
  • World Health has opened their clubs to residents of Fort McMurray who would benefit from having a work out with a shower and amenities.
  • Fountain Tire (8550 Yellowhead Trail) is offering free repairs for Fort Mac residents.
  • If you’re trying to find a loved one or need evacuation information, you can call the regional municipality at 780-762-3636 or the Red Cross at 1-888-350-6070.

  • Staff at the Maier Center is offering a place to stay, or support services for kids with autism.
  • Earls Restaurants are offering a sandwich and a drink to anyone with Fort Mac I.D AND will donate all of today’s steak sales in Alberta to Red Cross.
  • Boston Pizza in Millwoods & South Common Edmonton are providing individual pizzas with a free pop.
  • Indian Fushion downtown Edmonton providing free meals with proof of government ID
  • G+E Pharmacy (7326-82 Ave) is giving away 4-6 pounds of pet food with proof of Fort McMurray residency.

  • The Legion in Fort Saskatchewan is open for people to come and stay WITH PETS!
  • ETS is offering free shuttle service for evacuees between Edmonton Airport and the Reception Centre at Northlands.
  • You can drop off bottles at Triple H Southside Bottle Depot and they’ll donate the money to Red Cross if you like.
  • The Druid Irish Pub is offering a free meal and beverage to anyone displaced by the fires in Fort Mac. Just present a government issued ID with a Fort Mac address and you’ll be taken care of.
  • Wawanesa has opened temporary claims centers in key areas to assist policyholders with reporting losses and obtaining information as it relates to the Northern Alberta wildfire disaster.
  • Alberta Animal Rescues will direct you to places that can help any pets effected by the wildfire.
  • West Edmonton Mall is offering all attraction for free to Fort McMurray residents.
  • Champion Foods is offering pet food!
  • The Telus World of Science is offering free entry!
  • Metro Cinema is offering some free kids movies!
  • All Edmonton StorageMart locations are offering free rent for a month to anyone with a Fort Mac I.d.
  • 12 Volt Solutions for using their shop for a collection depot. They are taking donations of all sorts for the people displaced.
  • All Edible Arrangements in Edmonton, St.Albert and Sherwood Park are giving away free swizzle chocolate strawberry box’s for all Fort Mac evacuates all that’s required is a id and will be going on for Mother’s Day weekend from the 6-7th
  • Blackjacks in Nisku will host a fundraiser called “ReFuelling Fort Mac” on May 14th. Live music, a hypnotist, belly dancers, face painting, a bouncy castles for the kids and more! http://refuelfortmac.com/about/

  • On May 11th, all White Spot locations in Alberta and BC will donate $2 from every Burger platter and combo sold to the Red Cross.
